NATURAL STUDIES
자연사혁명의 선구자들이 살던 시대와 달리, 자연사학, 자연철학, 자연신하만으로 인류세의 지구가 당면한 문제를 결코 해결할 수 없다. 인공지능의 세상을 바라볼 정도로 첨단 기술과 과학이 발달 하고 있지만, 자연과학만으로는 이 문제를 감당할 수 없다. 자연 사학과 자연과학의 유기적인 협력이 필요하다. 또한 고대 지중해 세계의 자연철학적 전통과 자연신학적 지혜도 여전히 요청된다. 이처럼 자연사학-자연과학-자연철학-자연신학을 융합할 수 있는, 자연학에 대한 학문적 정립이 필요하다.
Natural history, natural philosophy, and natural theology alone cannot solve the problems facing the Anthropocene Earth, unlike in the era when the pioneers of the natural history revolution lived. Natural science alone cannot handle the issues despite the advanced technology and science being sophisticated enough to explore artificial intelligence. Organic cooperation between natural history and natural science is required. Additionally, the ancient world's traditions of philosophical and theological wisdom are still essential. Therefore, it is necessary to establish an academic foundation for natural science that can integrate natural history, natural science, natural philosophy, and natural theology.
근대 분과학문 체계로는 기후위기가 ‘대가속화’되고 전 지구적 변동이 ‘초가속화’되고 있는 인류세 시대의 위기에 지혜롭게 대응할 수 없다. 인류세에 걸맞는 새로운 융합학문인 자연학의 정립이 절박하다. 지구자연학은 자연사, 지구시스템과학, 기후지리학, 사회생태학, 진화생물학, 지구의학을 주춧돌 삼아 몸, 사회, 지구에 대한 총체적인 이해를 추구한다.
The contemporary academic system is ill-equipped to effectively address the crisis of the Anthropocene era, characterized by the rapidly accelerating climate crisis and hyperaccelerating global fluctuations. It is imperative to establish a new convergence study suitable for the Anthropocene. Planet natural sciences are the foundation of natural history, planet system science, climate geography, social ecology, evolutionary biology, and geomedicine, aiming to achieve a holistic understanding of the body, society, and the planet.
